FESTIVAL DATES: 28th March to 1st April 2018
VENUE: GPC Marina Parklands

Be prepared to explore sound with the Recycled Rhythmic Instrument Installation at the 2018 Gladstone Harbour Festival, held over Easter at the GPC Marina Parklands in Gladstone.

Abi Galbraith, the Event Coordinator for the Gladstone Harbour Festival said that the inclusion of the Recycled Rhythmic Instrument Installation within the this year’s festival will be a great addition to the festival, where our audience will be able to engage with the installation whilst exploring foundational music skills of beat, pattern recognition along with tone and timbre.

Following on from the collaboration from 2017’s successful Ecofest project, 2017 Public Art, Gladstone Festival and Events are collaborating with Creative Recycling Centre to employ 3 local artists to design and create these rhythmic Instruments out of up to 80% recycled material for our festival audience.
Tracey Smith, president of the Creative Recycling Centre said that this is an opportunity to create a conversation about ways the community can reduce, recycle and reuse everyday objects in a fun and engaging way. It supports the Creative Recycling Centre’s mission and vision to promote sustainable behaviour change within our homes, communities and region.

The Recycled Rhythmic Instrument Installation is a regional partnership between Gladstone Festival and Events and Creative Recycling Centre proudly supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). The Regional Arts Development Fund is a Queensland Government and Gladstone Regional Council partnership to support arts and culture in regional Queensland.

The Gladstone Harbour Festival is in its 56th year with free family entertainment, rides for the kids, delicious food, markets and kids space.
