GPC's Pop Up Art Village

GPC's Pop Up Art Village

Saturday 31st March, 9am - 3pm
GPC's Pop Up Art Village was a fun, engaging, quirky, interactive and free space within the Festival. Including morning stretches with Yoga under the trees from 9am - 9:30am, followed by a variety of fun, hands on activities and workshops that were suitable for all ages from 9:30am - 3pm.

The relaxed and laid back spaces also provided the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the festival! Check out what happened in the Art Village in 2018 below:

Yoga under the Tress
A nice and gentle yoga class to kick start your weekend, and suitable for the whole family (pregnant women welcome).
Please wear comfortable clothing and don't forget your mat and some water.
Recycled Rhythmic Instrument Installation
Get ready to explore sound at the 2018 Gladstone Harbour Festival with the Recycled Rhythmic Instrument Installation. Created by talented local artists Rosemary Anderson, Julie Miers and Katrina Elliott, using 80% recycled materials to create a playground of sound that is suitable for all ages! The Art Village audience are invited to engage with the installation whilst exploring foundational music skills of beat, pattern recognition along with tone and timbre.
The Recycled Rhythmic Instrument Installation is a regional partnership between Gladstone Festivals and Events and Creative Recycling Centre, proudly supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

Crow St Creative Workshops
Exquisite Corpses - is a surrealist drawing game, where you are invited to collaborate to help us create an artwork by chance. Visitors are invited to create a head, torso or limbs using oil pastels on an A2 sheet of paper and this is added to the "game" display. Watch as an unexpected figure emerges while turning the pages on the game display!
Succubus Plants - using found and unexpected objects you can create your own succulent pot plant to take home. Transform discarded toys, crockery, machine parts into living artworks!

Ribbon Wall Installation
You'll find a world of colour and wonder to delight the senses hanging from the trees in the village with our magical ribbon wall installation.
Interactive Story Board
Help us tell the story of Gladstone and the Harbour Festival! Getting involved is easy - all you need to do is pick a word and add it to the storyboard! ... The most exciting part? Seeing how the story unfolds!
